A native of the Canary Islands, the species is distinguished by its larger leaves and ovoid fruit rather than the round fruit found in the common Laurus nobilis. Rare or localised A native of the Canary Islands and Azores, this tree differs from the more common Laurus nobilis in its leaves are larger, twigsdowny and fruits egg-shaped.
